Introduction

This workshop continues a long tradition of information theory meetings in Israel since the 1960′s, including ISIT 1973 in Ashkelon and ITW 1996 at the Technion, Haifa. The conference venue, Mishkenot Sha’ananim, is a peaceful location in the historic Montefiore neighborhood, overlooking the old city of Jerusalem from the city center. The beautiful views from the Mishkenot terrace will surely inspire both speakers and participants. In ITW 2015 we promise you an interesting technical program, consisting of 130 talks in information theory and neighboring fields, as well as a rich and exciting social program in Jerusalem and outside. On the technical side we shall have 5 morning plenary talks, followed by two parallel sessions, consisting of a total of 75 contributed papers and 50 invited talks. The program features also a historic session, organized by Tony Ephremides, consisting of a panel of distinguished senior members of our society. Outside the ITW technical program, we shall have on Monday a late afternoon walk to the old city of Jerusalem. On Wednesday everyone is invited to a full-day trip (after enjoying the morning plenary by Abbas El Gamal), featuring the wonders of the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert, a visit to the Masada historic site, and a dinner in a Bedouin camp. Thursday’s evening banquet will be held in the Israel Museum restaurant, and will include a short guided tour of the museum highlights. And if you stay till the very last talk on Friday afternoon, then we invite you to join us for a farewell party on the terrace.
