18th annual conference of the Association of Internet Researchers

The Association is pleased to announce Estonia as the site of AoIR 2017 (Oct 19-21, 2017).

“e-Estonia” is a term commonly used to describe Estonia’s emergence as one of the most advanced e-societies in the world – an incredible success story that grew out of a partnership between a forward-thinking government, a pro-active ICT sector and a switched-on, tech-savvy population. Hence, since regaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Estonia has developed into a leading producer and consumer of ICT solutions, particularly in the area of e-government, but also in the private sector.

The conference will take place in both Tartu and Tallinn, hosted by the University of Tartu and Tallinn University. This conference represents a number of firsts for the annual AoIR meeting: the first time the IR conference has taken place in two cities, the first time two universities have hosted at the same time, and the first IR conference to be held in a post-Soviet republic.
