Introduction

The socio-economic costs of traffic accidents constitute a significant burden on society and decision makers therefore focus on reducing these numbers. In the EU, for example, the objective is to reduce the number of deaths with 50% by 2020. Many different research agendas need to be investigated before this can be realized. The focus of this workshop is one of the core disciplines required, namely how to develop and employ automatic traffic surveillance systems that can detect, track and in general understand the behavior of road-users. This workshop aim to gather not only signal processing researchers interested in these topics, but also traffic researchers and decision makers.

Submission Topics

  • Detection and tracking of road-users (pedestrians, vehicles, bikes, mopeds, etc.)
  • Behavior understanding of road-users
  • Multi-sensor approaches to the above topics (for example: visual light combined with Lidar)
  • User-centric approaches to the above topics (for example: vehicle-mounted sensing)
  • Employment of systems into real-life setups (theoretical and practical challenges)
  • Automatic understanding of the environment in traffic scenarios (for example: road signs, traffic light, lanes)

  • Applications related to traffic surveillance
