Medical mechatronics is an important engineering topic in the 21 century. Developments of medical mechatronic systems needs the integration of technologies within the medical domain knowledge, clinical operation protocol, artificial intelligence, software engineering, network and information technology, electric control system design and mechanical system design. Therefore, the medical mechatronics is discussed based on the systematic system design, healthcare, and cybernetic intelligence applications. The “medical mechatronics” special session presents the papers within new and important technologies that were developed in the medical applications. Hence, the “emerging technologies in medical mechatronics” special session fits the theme of the SMC conference. This special session will focus on the emerging technologies of medical mechatronics systems through case studies and reports on clinical applications.
This special session invites papers that describe not only solving the clinical problems, but also emphasizing the practical hands-on development procedures and integration of mechatronics components. Solicited topics include (but are not limited to): Smart medical devices, body sensor networks, rehabilitation systems, human/brain-computer interfaces, medical robots, intelligent wheelchairs, healthcare systems, and medical instruments.
