In 2030 about 70% of the world population will live in cities. Hence cities and metropolitan areas represent both a challenge and an opportunity for the sustainable development of the human environment. Challenges originate from the high concentration of mobility and supply and waste logistics. Opportunities arise from the high concentration of economic power allowing for intelligent infrastructure. The Internet of Things together with big data analytics will play a key role for the development of smart cities. The objective of this workshop is to discuss emerging ICT technologies and their potential for the development of smart cities. In particular, IoT infrastructure needs to be scalable to support heterogeneous devices in smart city environments. Smart cities may result in complex and multi-domain data that require intelligent data analytics to perform data fusion and support decision making. Energy-efficiency, reliability, data quality, security and privacy are all important considerations for IoT and data analytics for smart cities.
