Introduction

Welcome to the UK/Europe-China Workshop on Millimetre-Waves and Terahertz Technologies (UCMMT) 2017 which will be held at Marriott Hotel in the city centre of Liverpool on 11-13 September 2017. Liverpool is the 5th largest city in the UK and is famous for shipping, music and football. It is very close to Manchester (there is an international airport) and also not very far away from London (two-hour by train). You will have plenty to do and see.

The UCMMT was created in 2008 to stimulate and strengthen scientific collaboration and knowledge and cultural exchange. The workshop is held annually, alternating between Europe and China. This conference is now well established and has become a special premier international forum for the exchange of ideas on state-of-the-art research in mmWave and THz science and technologies.

This year we have received over 110 submitted papers from 10 countries. The workshop is hosted by the University of Liverpool (one of the Russell Group universities) and technically sponsored by the IET and IEEE (Photonics Society and MTT Society). To celebrate the 10th anniversary, we have invited six (very top) keynote speakers from the UK, Europe and China and have also organised a Special Session on large UK/Europe projects in mmWave and THz technologies. All oral presentations are invited talks. All standard papers will be presented at Interactive Sessions (a poster is required) attended by all delegates - thus you will have opportunities to conduct in-depth discussions with the people who share the same interest. The authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended manuscripts for a Special Issue on the IET Microwave, Antennas and Propagation.

In addition to an excellent set of technical programme. There are also many social events. The conference dinner will take place at the world-famous Liverpool Football Club with entertainment of the “Beatles”. There are also trips to the beautiful Lake District, roman city of Chester and designers’ outlet Cheshire Oaks Shopping Centre. Through a range of technical and social activities, you will have a plenty of opportunity to interact with the world's leading experts, scholars and students from different organisations and industries.
