As the integration of wind power increases in the power system, it is the basic requirement to model wind generators properly for the power system stability analysis and transient simulation. In this paper, a reduced-order method based on selective modal analysis (SMA) is proposed for constructing a reduced model of DFIGs. The whole system model with DFIGs is introduced firstly. Then the reduced-order method using SMA is presented in detailed about how to constructing a reduced model using the key modes and participate factors from the modal analysis. The comparison between the detailed model and the reduced model is carried out in the theoretical analysis and the transient simulation. Both the theoretical and simulation results verify that the reduced-order model can well fit the original steady and transient behavior of the system, which significantly reduces the computational complexity and thus improves the efficiency.
