With the development of communication technology and Internet of Things (IoT), traditional low-voltage (380V) Circuit Breakers (CB) can be made intelligent with communications. This paper presents development of a smart low voltage circuit breaker with integrated protection and control functions based on wireless communications. The CB has various overcurrent and over/under voltage protection functions, auto-reclosing and remote opening and closing function. It can also monitor the leakage current of low voltage circuits. This makes the operation of the low voltage systems (380V) safer and smarter.
