High-speed flight technology for aerospace vehicles will significantly enhance humanity's capabilities in 'exploring space', 'accessing space', 'controlling space', and 'utilizing space', carrying special military-strategic significance and important scientific value. Next-generation hypersonic vehicles are evolving toward higher altitudes, greater speeds, and longer endurance; high energy density applications inside the vehicle are becoming more common, while severe aerodynamic heating and large engine combustion waste heat create increasingly harsh internal and external thermal environments. Moreover, strong coupling exists between structural thermal response inside the vehicle and aerodynamic heating in the external flow field—exhibiting pronounced unsteady, nonlinear, and multiscale characteristics—whose underlying coupling mechanisms still require continuous investigation. In addition, China's railway system is advancing toward higher speeds and heavier loads, raising critical frictional heating issues; thermal fatigue problems in nuclear power equipment, turbine rotors, and piping also urgently demand resolution.
In response to major national needs, the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics held the '1st National Conference on Thermal Stresses' in Nanjing in December 2015, followed by the 2nd–5th conferences in Hangzhou (2017), Ningbo (2019), Chongqing (2023), and Harbin (2024), all receiving enthusiastic participation and high praise from researchers in mechanics and related disciplines. The 6th National Conference on Thermal Stresses will be hosted in Xi'an by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from April 18–20, 2025. We sincerely invite experts, scholars, and graduate students nationwide working in relevant fields to submit contributions and participate to exchange the latest research results!
