2016 International Conference on Progress in Informatics and Computing (PIC)

The 2016 International Conference on Progress in Informatics and Computing (PIC-2016) will be held on Dec 23-25, 2016 in Shanghai, which is famed as a thriving metropolis and one of the largest city in the world. The combination of the traditions and modernism and the East mixing with the West has built its unique charm. 

Over the past year, information technology has been experienced a further rapid development. Information systems and computing become more and more intelligent. With the accumulation of data and the enhancement of computing power, the requirement for processing big data, and intelligent computing draw more and more attention than ever before. The relevant issues have been deeply explored, and a lot of improvements have been made. 

For conforming to this trend, this year's conference, PIC 2016, will focus on the progress on intelligent computing, and intelligent information systems, especially on big data driven intelligence. It will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners in academia and industry to discuss the progress, challenges, experiences and trends of the theoretical and application issues in the intelligent computing area to exchange ideas, share knowledge and promote future cooperation. 

Background of PIC conference: Since its first conference in 2010, PIC has been dedicated to address various sub-fields of informatics and computing science, including artificial intelligence, multi-media and human-computer interaction, data science and applied informatics. This year's PIC conference will especially focus on intelligent computing. PIC-2016 is sponsored by IEEE Beijing Section, co-organized by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Partnered by Tongji University. It is the fourth in the series of PIC conference. The first and second conference were held in December 10-12,2010, and in May 16-18,2014 respectively, both in Shanghai. The third conference was held in December 16-18,2015, in Nanjing. All the previous conferences were a great success. As with the previous conference, all accepted papers will be published in conference proceedings with an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and will be submitted to EI Compendex, after the conference. Best paper awards will be distributed during the conference. Substantially extended versions of good papers will be recommended for publication in several international SCI and EI indexed journals.
